Oh, the great Pokemon card shortage saga! It's a mix of high demand meets scalpers meets global pandemic. Basically, everyone and their grandma wanted to get their hands on Pokemon cards during the pandemic, either to relive nostalgia or to make a quick buck by reselling. Scalpers used bots to snatch up all the stock faster than Pikachu saying 'Pika Pika!' Then, add in production issues thanks to the global situation, and bam, you've got a recipe for a shortage.

Short answer? Too many buyers, not enough cards. It's just supply and demand doing its thing.

I managed to snag some rare cards right before the shortage hit its peak. From what I saw, the hype was unreal. Social media was buzzing with Pokemon TCG, and everyone wanted in. Stores couldn't keep up with the demand, online was a bot fest, and here we are. Being a part of the rush was wild, though!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
