Make sure your internet connection is stable. A weak signal or slow connection can mess with the update process.
Check if automatic updates are enabled in your PS5 settings. Go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Automatic Updates, and make sure the option is turned on.
Make sure your PS5 is connected to the internet and that you have enough storage space. Sometimes you just need to restart your console to kickstart the update!
From personal experience, I had to manually check for updates. Highlight the Fortnite icon on your home screen, press the options button, and select 'Check for Update'.
