Short answer? Naw. Age of Calamity is a prequel, so it's more of a backstory thing. Tears of the Kingdom is all about moving forward with fresh gameplay and story. No homework required before diving in!

Nope, Age of Calamity won't affect Tears of the Kingdom. They're like cousins at the same family reunion; related but living their own lives. Age of Calamity is more of a side story that gives some background to the events in Breath of the Wild. Tears of the Kingdom picks up where Breath of the Wild left off but it's its own adventure with new mechanics and areas to explore. So, if you skipped Age of Calamity, you won't be lost jumping into Tears of the Kingdom.

Honestly, Age of Calamity adds depth to the lore, but it's not required reading for Tears of the Kingdom. Played both, and I didn't feel like I missed anything crucial by not memorizing every detail from Age of Calamity. Plus, Tears of the Kingdom is just so epic on its own. You're good to go!

If you're a Legend of Zelda player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Nintendo eShop gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
