From my time with Starfield, I found that items don't despawn. I left a whole bunch of laser rifles on a moon and they were still there when I came back!

No need to worry! In Starfield, your dropped items should hang around. Bethesda's pretty good about persisting items in their games.

Dropped items usually stick around unless you leave the area for a long time. So maybe don't drop your favorite space boots on a mission and expect them to wait for you forever!
