Are the starters shiny locked in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

Yep, the starters in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are indeed shiny locked. This means you won't be able to find a shiny version of Sprigatito, Fuecoco, or Quaxly when you first pick your partner. But don't lose hope! You can still hunt for their shiny forms in the wild after beating the game. So, keep those Pokeballs ready!

Nah, shiny hunting for starters at the beginning? Forget about it. They're shiny locked.

Can confirm, they're shiny locked. Spent hours resetting for a shiny Fuecoco before I found out. Save yourself the time and just enjoy the game. You can always shiny hunt for other Pokémon!
