Honestly, didn't find it worth the hassle. Qwilfish is cooler as is.

It's all about patience and persistence. I got mine to evolve after sticking to the strategy of using Overworld Spikes in every battle I could. Took a bit, but seeing my Qwilfish evolve into Overqwil was totally worth it! Make sure it learns the move at level 36 and then go wild with those spikes!
