Been there, done that! I added a sick custom background of my favorite map. Just make sure the image is in the .jpg format and matches the game's resolution for the best look. Place it in the 'csgo' folder inside your Steam directory under 'materials/console' (you might need to create this path). Then, boot up the game and enjoy the new vibe!
