Starting a 1v1 match in CS:GO is pretty straightforward! First, you'll want to launch the game and open the console by pressing the ` key (it's right under the Esc button). Then, type: 'map de_dust2' (or any map you prefer) to load the map. Once the map is loaded, you open the console again and type 'bot_kick' to get rid of those pesky AI players. Invite your friend through the Steam overlay (Shift+Tab), and voila, you’re set for a 1v1 showdown. Don’t forget to adjust game settings to your liking by using various commands for round time, weaponry, and more!

Honestly, just join a 1v1 server already set up by someone else. Way less of a headache than messing around with console commands.

I run a few 1v1 sessions with my mates all the time. The trick is to make sure you're all in the same Steam group. Then, when you're setting up the game, you can create a 'Friends Needs to Join' lobby, select the map, and under game settings, pick 'Practice with Bots.' Kick the bots, and you're ready to go. The group thing makes it easier to find each other in the game.

Easiest way? Just hit up a community server that's set up for 1v1 duels. No setup required, and you can sometimes find servers that'll have everything configured for you – maps, rounds, even weapon choices. It's a good way to practice against real players without the hassle.
