Pro tip: If you're worried about trading Haunter with a stranger, join a Pokemon community! Lots of kind-hearted trainers there are willing to help with trades for evolutions. Made a few friends that way myself and got my Gengar with no issues.

Honestly, I don't get why they've kept the trading evolution thing. It's such a hassle, especially if you don't have friends into Pokemon. But yeah, trade Haunter, that's the only way.
