Had to share my experience! I was stuck with my Haunter and didn't want to trade with strangers. Found out that an in-game character trades you a Haunter for a specific Pokémon. Did the trade, and my Haunter evolved into Gengar right away. Make sure your game is up to date; some of these features might come through patches or events.

Evolving Haunter without trading in Pokemon Violet? You're in luck! Normally, Haunter evolves into Gengar through trading, but there's a workaround.
