Restarting your game usually does the trick. If that doesn't work, try restarting your router to refresh your connection. Sometimes the server issues are on Valve's end, so checking their official Twitter or Steam status pages for any announcements can save you a lot of troubleshooting time.

Change your max ping. Go to game settings and lower your 'Max Acceptable Matchmaking Ping'. Sometimes the problem is that it's trying to connect you to a far server.

I had the same issue last week! I fixed it by verifying the game files through Steam. Right-click on CS:GO in your library, go to Properties -> Local Files and hit 'Verify integrity of game files'... worked like a charm!
