I've been playing since launch and honestly, the fastest way to get an egg is to leave two of the same species in the Day Care. Seems like they get along quicker. Just my two cents from hours of trying everything.

Hate to burst the bubble, but getting an egg isn't always about romance and compatibility. Sometimes, it's pure RNG (Random Number Generation). You might need several tries, so patience is key!
