How to Rename Traded Pokemon in Scarlet

Ah, the age-old question of renaming your traded Pokémon in Scarlet! Unfortunately, the short answer is: you can't. Once a Pokémon gets traded, its nickname is locked in forever (or until the end of time, whichever comes first). This is to preserve the original trainer's chosen name as a nod to the Pokémon's history and origins. The only exception is if the Pokémon didn't have a nickname to begin with, then you can give it a name by visiting the Name Rater in any Pokémon Center.

Actually, there's a bit of a workaround, but it's not perfect. If the traded Pokémon doesn't have a nickname, you're free to name it whatever you want at the Name Rater. But if it's already nicknamed, you're out of luck. Learned this the hard way after trading for a Pikachu named 'SparkyMcSparkFace.'
