Quick Guide to Using Your Shield
First things first, to use a shield in Minecraft, you need to have one in your inventory. If you don’t have a shield yet, you can craft one using one iron ingot and six wood planks. Position the iron ingot in the top middle slot of the crafting table and arrange the wood planks in a Y shape around it. Voila! Now you’ve got yourself a shield.
Once you have your shield, equip it by placing it in the off-hand slot, which is on the right-hand side of the inventory screen. On PC and Mac, right-click to use the shield and block attacks. If you’re playing on a console like Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch, press the LT, L2, or ZL buttons respectively. On mobile devices, tap the shield button that appears on your screen. Remember, using a shield effectively requires timing, especially against arrows and explosions!
