CS2 is an update, not a new game. Think of it as CS:GO just hitting the gym and coming back with muscles. It's the same game at heart but looks and plays better.

Definitely an update. People calling it a new game probably just haven't seen how updates can drastically change a game nowadays. It's CS:GO, but on steroids.
