Are copied spells considered cast in MTG?
TabulatingMadam路7 months agoActually, copied spells aren't cast. They just pop into existence on the stack, so no, you don't get to trigger those 'whenever you cast...' abilities. Think of it as a spell photocopy machine that skips the whole casting step.

Nope, when you copy a spell in MTG, it's not considered as casting the spell. The copy is created directly on the stack, so it bypasses the whole casting process, which means abilities that trigger when you cast a spell won't trigger from a copy.
Copied spells? Nope, they're not cast. They just appear.
I've been playing MTG for years, and every time a spell is copied, it's basically cloning the spell directly onto the stack. It never counts as casting, so it won't trigger any of those casting abilities. Learned this the hard way in a tournament!
