Are counters considered damage in MTG?
WhammellingSuite路7 months agoShort answer: No. Counters are a way to track changes or effects, not a form of damage. Damage deals directly with a creature's life or toughness within the turn it's applied.

Nope, counters aren't considered damage in Magic: The Gathering. Counters, like +1/+1 counters or -1/-1 counters, modify a creature's power and toughness or track certain effects. Damage, on the other hand, reduces a creature's toughness temporarily until the end of turn or triggers abilities. They're different mechanics!
Absolutely not! As a long-time MTG player, I've seen this mix-up often. Counters adjust stats or effects permanently (or until removed otherwise), whereas damage wears off by the clean-up step of a turn. They're like apples and oranges in the MTG universe.
