Are merfolks any good in MTG?

Oh, absolutely! Merfolk decks can be super powerful and annoying to play against. They're all about synergy. Get a few merfolk on the board, and they start buffing each other up. Before you know it, your opponent is drowning in a sea of scaled troubles. They're especially good in blue and blue-green decks, focusing on control and drawing cards. Plus, with every new set, there's always a chance for more merfolk that just make them even stronger.

Nah, merfolks are more style than substance. Sure, they can be fun for casual play, but if you're getting serious about winning, there are stronger and more reliable strategies out there. I'd rather build a deck around control, aggro, or combo strategies that don't rely on getting multiple creatures of the same type on the board to be effective.

Merfolk decks have been competitive in various formats for years. They're not just good; they're a classic MTG archetype. I've been playing a Modern Merfolk deck for ages, and it's consistently performed well at tournaments. The key is in the mix of aggro and disruption – spreading seas to mess with your opponent's lands while swinging in with lords that pump your team.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
