In Magic The Gathering, you 'cast' spells, including instants and sorceries, and you 'play' lands. So, if you're talking about slinging a fireball or summoning a dragon, you're casting. If you're talking about putting a land into play, then you're playing that card. Whether it's a creature, artifact, or enchantment, if you're using mana to get it onto the battlefield, you're casting it!

Just a quick note - you 'cast' most things in MTG, but remember, lands are 'played', not cast. Can't cast a land, since they don't require mana. Simple as that.

Everyone seems to be forgetting that while you do 'cast' spells, saying you 'played' a spell isn't wrong in casual talk. But yeah, technically, it's 'casting' for spells and 'playing' for lands.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
