Nope, players definitely aren't permanents in Magic The Gathering. Permanents are the cards that, once played, remain on the battlefield. These include lands, creatures, artifacts, enchantments, and planeswalkers. Players, however, are the ones casting the spells and commanding these permanents - so think of yourself more as the powerful wizard behind the cards rather than a card yourself!
LOL, imagine being a permanent. Could I tap myself to produce mana? But seriously, no, players are not considered permanents in MTG. We just control them.
