Yep, those 23k gold Pokémon cards are indeed coated in real gold! They're not solid gold, mind you, but they have a thin layer of gold plating on them. They were released as part of a special Burger King promotion back in 1999. Super cool collectibles but don't expect to melt them down into a new set of earrings!

Real gold but not real rich. They are gold-plated, which means they have a super thin layer of 23k gold. Basically more for show than value. Still, a neat part of Pokémon history and cool for collectors!
