Sort of! The first movie, Mugen Train, is an adaptation of the Mugen Train arc from the manga. So, while it's the same story, it's presented as a feature film instead of episodes. The show also adapts this arc, but if you watch the movie, you can skip those episodes!
Don't worry about missing out. The show and the movies complement each other beautifully. Enjoy them both!
