Can a spell target itself in MTG?
MuggingCreek路7 months agoAbsolutely not. Spells in Magic The Gathering are like arrows, once you shoot them, they can't turn around and hit themselves.

Gonna have to say no here. Spells targeting themselves would make for some wacky gameplay, but that鈥檚 not how MTG rolls. Once a spell is cast, it's looking for other targets, not itself.
Nope, a spell cannot target itself in MTG. Once you cast a spell, it's on its way to the battlefield or stack and doesn't have the ability to turn back and target itself. It's like sending a text message; once it's sent, you can't make it text itself back.
