Can a Steam Deck be used as a PC?
ReoccuringRace路7 months agoAbsolutely! The Steam Deck is essentially a handheld PC running on a custom AMD APU optimized for handheld gaming. It runs on SteamOS by default, which is based on Linux, but you can totally install Windows on it or use it to run other PC software and games not exclusively found on Steam. It's got the inputs and connectivity you'd expect from a PC, so hooking it up to a monitor, using external storage, or plugging in a mouse and keyboard is no problem at all.

Yup, you can! It's not just for gaming. The Steam Deck runs a version of Linux but feel free to slap Windows on there. Then it鈥檚 game on for both your Steam library and all the joys of PC use.
Steam Deck as a PC? More like a compact power punch! Managed to do my regular browsing, some light work, and of course, gaming. It's not replacing my desktop anytime soon, but for on-the-go, it's perfect.
I wouldn't count on it replacing your desktop or laptop. Great for games, but for serious work? Meh.
