Nope, the Steam Deck can't natively play Nintendo Switch games out of the box. They're different ecosystems. The Steam Deck runs on SteamOS, a Linux-based system designed around the Steam platform, and it's meant to play games from your Steam library. Nintendo Switch games, on the other hand, are designed to run on Nintendo's proprietary hardware and operating system. So, unless the game has a version available on Steam, you won't be able to play it on a Steam Deck.

Actually, if you're tech-savvy, there's a way around but it's not straightforward. Steam Deck is a PC at heart, so you can install Windows on it and then use emulators to play Switch games. Remember though, emulation sits in a legal gray area and you'd need to own the game to download a ROM legally. Plus, not all games might run smoothly through emulation.

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
