Nah, your companions in Fallout 4 are pretty much immortal when it comes to skirmishes with the Commonwealth's nastiest. They can get knocked down during a fight, but they won't die. They just take a knee and get back up after the fight's over, or if you give them a Stimpak. Super handy, especially if you're like me and tend to accidentally shoot your buddies more often than the enemies.

Short answer: No. Long answer: Still no, but they can get incapacitated in battle. You'll need to heal them or just wait till the coast is clear for them to stand back up and rejoin the fight.

Only if you're playing on Survival mode. Otherwise, they're invincible, just taking a short break when downed. Survival mode, though, that's a whole other beast. There, your companions can indeed kick the bucket, so watch out!
