Can Counterspells Target Themselves in MTG?
Nope, counterspells can't target themselves in Magic The Gathering. When you cast a counterspell, it needs a valid target already on the stack. Since the counterspell isn't on the stack until you've finished casting it, it can't target itself. Basically, you can't shoot a bullet with itself!

Actually, no. A counterspell needs something else to target. Think of it like trying to high-five your own hand without the other one - it just doesn't work.
No. Counterspells in MTG can't self-target. They need another spell on the stack to target. Tried it once at a local game night, hoping for a loophole. Learned the hard way, it's a no-go.
