Can Firestorm target Planeswalkers in MTG?
CorsetingJoke路7 months agoNope, Firestorm can't directly target planeswalkers. In MTG, you target the player with Firestorm and then, if you want to redirect the damage to a planeswalker that player controls, you can choose to do so as the spell resolves. This follows the general rule for noncombat damage being redirected from a player to a planeswalker they control.

Actually, it's all about the year of the card! Older cards like Firestorm didn't originally specify hitting planeswalkers because they didn't exist yet. However, since the rules changed, they can indirectly affect planeswalkers through the damage redirection rule. So, while you can't target a planeswalker directly with Firestorm, you can choose to redirect its damage to one after targeting a player.
No, can't target them directly. Gotta hit the player first then redirect. It's kinda roundabout but that's how the cookie crumbles!
Honestly, why bother with Firestorm when there are better options for hitting planeswalkers directly? Just my two cents.
