Can Gem Trees Grow on the Surface in Terraria?
AttendingStoke路8 months agoThey can't. Gem trees are picky and only grow underground on stone blocks. The surface isn't their thing.

Nope, gem trees in Terraria need to plant their roots underground. They won't grow on the surface as they require a stone block to sprout from. So, if you're planning a gem forest up top, you might need to rethink that strategy.
Tried it myself, gem trees definitely need to be underground. They won鈥檛 grow on the surface, tried using stone blocks up top and everything. No dice.
