Can I have Dogmeat and another follower in Fallout 4?
Sadly, you can't simultaneously roam the wasteland of Fallout 4 with Dogmeat and another companion. It's a one-companion-at-a-time deal, meaning you've gotta choose between your loyal doggo and the other fascinating characters you meet. But hey, Dogmeat doesn't count against your companion limit for some perk effects, so he's still pretty special!

Actually, there's a bit of a workaround early in the game that lets you have Dogmeat and another companion for a while. It's not exactly by design and might not work perfectly, but it's cool to try. Just don't count on it for the whole game!
I've tried everything, trust me. It's either Dogmeat or another follower. But Dogmeat is awesome, so it's not really a loss!
