Yep, you can't really plant soot flowers in your camp. They're out there in the wild, ready for you to pick up whenever you're roaming around. Best plan is to note where you find them and make a little route for yourself to gather them regularly.

Actually tried to plant soot flowers once, thinking it'd jazz up my camp. Turns out, you can't plant them. Ended up decking my place out with other in-game plants and some fancy lighting. Looks pretty rad if I do say so myself.
