Nope, Nick Valentine can't wear typical armor like other companions. He's stuck with his stylish trench coat and fedora, which, let's be honest, is pretty snazzy on its own. However, you can equip him with certain hats and a few select accessories.

Tried equipping armor on Nick myself, couldn't. Can confirm, Nick rocks his default look like a champ with no need for upgrades.
