Can't assign a settler in Fallout 4? How to fix it
DemonstratingUnit·7 months agoFirst up, try the basics: make sure you're in workshop mode and directly pointing at the settler you wanna assign. Sometimes it's just about getting the angle right. If that doesn’t work, walk away a bit, then come back and try again. Bethesda games can be quirky like that!

Restart the game. Seriously, it fixes more bugs than you'd think. If a settler’s being stubborn and won’t get assigned, a quick reboot might just do the trick. It’s like turning it off and on again, but for your post-apocalyptic management issues.
Y'all are complicating things. Just hit 'em with a stick. Jokes aside, sometimes the game just bugs out. If nothing else works, try assigning them to a different task or moving them to another settlement and then moving them back.
Make sure your settlement isn't at its population cap! Each settlement has a max number of settlers based on your Charisma level. So, if you're trying to assign a new job and it's not working, you might just have a full house.
