Yes, the original PS3 models (the ones with 4 USB ports) can play both PS1 and PS2 games. Later models can only play PS1 games.

PS3 can play PS1 games, but only some models let you play PS2 games. Check if yours is an older model!

Only the first generation PS3s can play both PS1 and PS2 games. After that, Sony removed the PS2 compatibility.
