Absolutely not. Proliferate targets only counters. Life isn't a counter. Save it for your +1/+1s or loyalty counters!
Nope, proliferate can't boost your life total directly. Proliferate allows you to add another counter of a kind that's already present on a permanent or player. So, if you've got a poison counter or experience counter, you can add one more. However, it doesn't work with life since life isn't tracked with counters in MTG. You'd need a card that specifically adds life counters for that to work.
