I have a 60GB PS3 and it plays most of my PS2 games perfectly. Just make sure to check your model!

Yes, but it depends on the model. Some early PS3 models (like the 60GB and 20GB versions) are backwards compatible and can play PS2 games directly. Later models, though, dropped this feature.

Only the first few models of the PS3 had hardware to support PS2 games. After that, it's a no-go.
