Yes, but only the early PS3 models (like the 20GB and 60GB versions) offer full backward compatibility with PS2 games. These 250GB models, unfortunately, don’t support PS2 disc-based games. You can still play some PS2 classics available in the PlayStation Store, though!

Nope, PS3 250GB models can't play PS2 discs. But there are some PS2 games available for download on the PlayStation Store.

From my experience, the 250GB PS3 doesn’t run PS2 discs, but I’ve managed to play a bunch of old favorites that I downloaded from the PlayStation Store. It's a decent workaround!
