Nope, most PS3s can't play PS2 games. Look for the older, chunky models if you want that feature.
I have an old 60GB PS3, and it plays PS2 games just fine. It's a bit noisy, but it works!
In short, mostly not. Only the earliest models do. So unless you have one of those, it's a no-go.
