Unfortunately, The Quarry does not support cross-generation play between PS4 and PS5, so you'll need to be on the same console to play together.

From personal experience, I can tell you The Quarry doesn鈥檛 support cross-gen play. My friend on PS4 and I on PS5 had to play separately.
