From my experience, game sharing works great by designating one system as your 'Home Xbox.' But you'll need separate Xbox Live Gold for each account if you want to play online.
You can share your games by setting one of the consoles as your 'Home Xbox.' This allows other accounts on that console to access your game library. But, Xbox Live Gold subscriptions can't be shared; each account needs its own subscription.
Use the 'Home Xbox' feature to share games between systems. Unfortunately, Xbox Live subscriptions aren't shareable.
