Nope, the PS4 can't directly play PS3 game discs or downloads. But you can stream some PS3 games via PS Now, Sony's cloud gaming service!

PS4 isn't backwards compatible with PS3 game discs, but PlayStation Now lets you stream PS3 games. It's not perfect, but it's something!

As someone who's tried it, you can't pop a PS3 disc into your PS4 and have it work. You need PlayStation Now for that.

Unfortunately no, the PS4 can't play PS3 games directly. Sony offers PlayStation Now for streaming older titles though.
