No, you can't directly add opponents, but multiplayer mode lets you race with friends and random players!
Unfortunately, you can't pick your opponents, but multiplayer races are fun with friends and strangers alike.
From my experience, you can't add opponents, but adding friends and joining their multiplayer lobbies works just fine!
