I tried this myself recently. Unfortunately, Xbox 360 controllers don't work with the Series S. You gotta upgrade!

Short answer: No, the 360 controller won't connect to a Series S.

Nope, the Xbox 360 controller isn't compatible with the Xbox Series S. You'll need to use an Xbox One or Series X/S controller instead.
