Nope, you can't counter a land because playing a land isn't a spell. In Magic The Gathering, counterspells only work on spells that are cast, and since lands are just placed onto the battlefield without being cast, there's no moment where a counterspell could be used. So go ahead, play those lands with confidence!

Quick answer: No, you can't. Lands aren't spells, so you can't counter them. Period.

Absolutely not. Lands are not spells. Counterspells target only spells that are cast, and since playing a land doesn't use the stack or require casting, it's immune to being countered. In all my years of playing MTG, never has a land play been countered. That's just the rules.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
