Yep, I actually did this myself. Deleted my old PSN account and used the same email to set up a new one without any issues.

Yes, you can delete your PSN account, and after it's deleted, you can reuse the email address for a new account. Just remember, deleting an account is permanent, so make sure you're okay with losing all your data and purchases!
