You can't directly play PS3 games from a USB stick. But, you can transfer game data and then install it on the PS3.

It's a bit tricky. You can copy some PS3 games to a USB, but you'll still need to install them on the console. No direct playing from USB!

I've tried it myself, and you can transfer game installations to your PS3 from a USB, but you can't run them directly from the stick.
