Nope, you can't fly airplanes in GTA 4. The game is set in a densely packed city (based on New York City), and the developers decided to leave out the option to fly planes to keep it realistic. However, you can still pilot helicopters, which is pretty cool for getting a bird's-eye view of Liberty City!

Sadly, no. GTA 4 said 'Nope' to airplanes. It's a bummer, but hey, helicopter rides are a decent consolation prize, right? Gives you a chance to enjoy the skyline without worrying about wing clearance.
