You can't gift Platinum itself, but just buy something for them in the marketplace with your own Plat. That's the workaround!
I tried gifting Platinum once, only to realize the game doesn't allow it. Ended up gifting a Warframe instead.
Nope, gifting Platinum isn't a thing. Wish it was, though! Best you can do is buy and gift items directly.
