I've done it myself a few times. Stasis rifle to freeze it, then attack with a thermoblade or prawn suit drill. Just make sure you have lots of health packs and batteries.
Technically, you can kill a Reaper Leviathan, but honestly, it's not really worth the trouble. Just avoid them if you can.
