Nope, you can't leave power armor directly in a workbench station in Fallout 4. What you do is exit the power armor near the Power Armor Station, and then you can work on it by interacting with the station. Remember, park it close so you don't have to walk a mile to tinker with your gear!

Short answer: no, you can't. But parking it close to the station is just as good.
Actually, leaving your power armor in a workbench doesn't work like that. Instead, exit your power suit near the station, and then you can mod and repair it. I learned this the hard way after spending ages trying to 'store' it in the bench.
